Thuy Nguyen
Ms. Thuy has been working for AISD as a teacher with the Vietnamese Bilingual Program since 1994. She has a Bachelor of Arts in French, Master of Arts in Socio-Linguistics, and Ph.D. Candidate in Cross Cultural Communication; all at Universite Laval, Quebec, Canada. Ms. Thuy is an advocate for Bilingual Education and very passionate about helping the underprivileged. She loves to play tennis, exercise and travel.
Cô Thủy dạy học từ năm 1994 cho Chương Trình Song Ngữ của Ty Học Vụ Austin. Cô theo học trường đại học Laval ở Quebec và có bằng cử nhân tiếng Pháp, bằng thạc sĩ về Ngôn Ngữ Xã Hội học và cô đã từng là học viên của chương trình tiến sĩ về môn Giao Tiếp Xuyên Văn Hóa. Cô hiện tại điều khiển Chương Trình Song Ngữ Việt Mỹ của Ty học vụ Austin. Cô là người tranh đấu cho chương trình song ngữ và rất đam mê giúp đỡ học sinh gìn giữ được tiếng mẹ đẻ. Robert Pham
Mr. Pham has been a 5th grade ESL/Vietnamese bilingual teacher since 1995. He also has a Bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Arlington. But according to those with whom he works, he is so much more. Mr. Pham dedicates his time to teaching the "whole child." He stays after school every day and comes in on weekends to tutor and mentor current and former students on their schoolwork, home lives, and their Vietnamese culture.
In addition to helping his students excel in their schoolwork, he facilitates classes in dragon, lion, and other traditional Vietnamese dances and martial arts classes. For fun, Mr. Pham will often take his students on trips such as camping at Enchanted Rock, spending a day at Schlitterbahn, and taking a road trip to Florida. He was voted for Teacher of the Year at Walnut Creek Elementary in 2001-2002, and was rewarded with the "Heroes of Central Texas Celebration" award in 2003.
